Moemen Mohamed Hussein

PhD student

Moemen got his BSc in Mechanical Engineering with honors from Alexandria University’s Faculty of Engineering. He, appointed as a R&TA at the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Physics. He then enrolled in a Master of Engineering Mathematics degree program at the same university. Moemen’s master work involved the modification of a model of skeletal muscle activation dynamics. The model considers recent biological findings on store-operated calcium entry channels and EMG signals, providing a phenomenological approach to model muscle contraction.

Moemen is currently pursuing a PhD in biomedical engineering at Khalifa University in UAE. His research focuses on investigating and modeling host-pathogen interactions, specifically exploring the innate responses of the myeloid lineage in response to diseases such as infections and cancer. The aim is to understand how host immune responses contribute to the clinical outcome of these diseases. The research involves computational modeling, which involves simplifying and calibrating a complex biological system. Also, involves using machine learning to get the best of the available multi-scale clinical data.
