Dimitris Manias
Postdoc
Dr. Dimitris M. Manias obtained his Ph.D. in Multi-scale Analysis from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 2020. Prior to this, he completed his M.Sc. in Applied Mechanics in 2013 and his M.Eng. in Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences in 2011, both from the same institution. During his doctoral studies, he made multiple academic visits to institutions including Sapienza, ETH Zurich, KAUST, and Khalifa University. In 2021, he joined Khalifa University as a Postdoctoral Fellow.
Dr. Manias specializes in the development and application of algorithmic tools for analyzing complex multi-scale mathematical models, such as in biological systems. He employs advanced mathematical methodologies for the algorithmic asymptotic analysis and construction of reduced-dimension models, aiming to achieve system-level understanding. This is accomplished by identifying the key subprocesses and important variables within these models, where the need for simplified models is essential, especially when it comes to data that consist of hundreds of variables.
Currently, his research focuses on harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence on biological multi-scale systems. In addition to his research, he serves as a Lab Instructor for the undergraduate course of Data Analytics. In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar and learning about the latest technological advancements.
